Baby TeethBaby teeth usually fall out naturally and permanent teeth are meant to last a lifetime. However, there are a number of reasons for which a tooth may need to be extracted. If you find your child in need of gentle dental care, our specialists have the ability and experience to make the procedure as quick and painless as possible. William C. Gardner DDS PA and our team of professionals are committed to providing the best dental service with a focus on patient comfort.
Why have teeth extracted?
Decay can cause teeth to fracture beyond repair, but it's not just damaged teeth that may need to be pulled. There are many other issues where an extraction is necessary. For example, baby teeth don't always fall out in time for permanent teeth to erupt and rather than allow the teeth to crown or become impacted, an extraction may be recommended. Another common issue is when you're getting braces, and some teeth may need to be pulled to provide enough room for proper tooth alignment.
The extraction of wisdom teeth is the most commonly known reason. However, some medications or medical procedures (such as organ transplants) would cause the later extraction to be unsafe.
To prevent tooth decay or other issues that might result in an extraction, you can talk to your dentist and have regular examinations with us at William C. Gardner DDS PA.
We Focus on Patient Comfort & Care
Extractions and many other dental procedures can be frightening, especially when the patient doesn't have enough information to be mentally and emotionally prepared for it. All our specialists provide full disclosure when discussing a proposed treatment, and are ready to answer all the questions you might have. They will explain in length the the effects of not pursuing treatment, such as avoiding an extraction or choosing not to accept the proposed procedures, so you're able to make an informed decision.
Our dedication to each patient's care involves ensuring that any extractions are quick and painless. We believe that dental care should not be an unpleasant experience.
